But, hey, the kids loved today. With many achieving to do something a little more challenging than normal and building upon friendships.

The morning was spent raft building and then testing the boats in the lake. Some rafts were good, some not so good. But any pride was quickly changed when the PGL instructors in their canoes splashed anyone within range. Once you’re wet, you’re wet and you might fall in; although the lake looked deep it was barely 4 foot!

The staff had spent a good time building their seaworthy raft and were looking confident and proud. But the PGL canoe groupies soon loosened a few knots and it came apart. Gravity took hold and the staff swam, (well paddled) towards the shoreline with great support from the children who spashed them non stop…

Without the staff on the water the children fought it out between themselves for supremacy. There were massed, very wet battles out there!

But the staff were not dismayed and plotted to build a superior raft and pressed on to find the ultimate battleship.

However, after an hour they still had not agreed on a design and found that the session was over. They were forced to walk into the water and throw themselves in…

Happy children, wet staff!

In the afternoon we spent time on both a high trapeze and abseiling. The children all enjoyed and achieved.

The PGL staff, the facilities and the glorious weather are making this a great trip to remember.

This may be the last report since we head home after lunch tomorrow.

AND IF YOU CAN”T HEAR US WE”LL SHOUT A LITTLE LOUDER!

It started in the tranquil English countryside with nothing to be heard but the gentle sound of the slow running stream, the wind cascading through the trees and spring blossom.

Was that the sound of a early bee looking to find a nest or a perhaps a rabbit making its way across the hillside?

Ducks were cruising along the stream teaching their young to fish and find food. With the blue sky and the rising temperature what could spoil such a perfect day?

…

Was that a child’s voice in the distance or perhaps the song of a lark in the distant oak trees.

But no it’s a song … I have heard it before in my childhood. row…row…row.  The sound increased

Yes it is a song…, row, row, row your boat gently down the stream, merrily, merrily, merrily, life is but a dream.

A Boat appeared around the bend, then another and another….

And if you can’t hear us…we’ll SHOUT A LITTLE LOUDER. And they did…

and the ducks splashed away, the rabbits scattered.

Maybe the day wasn’t to be quite so still and quiet?

…

And so the fun continues…Zip Wires, High Ropes, and much, much more!

Perhaps it was because his favourite team, Everton won last night, or perhaps leaving his sun hat at home wasn’t such a good idea.

But Mr Wright, seeing how many of the year 6 could climb up to the top of Jacob’s ladder thought that he should prove he was still able to pursue the things he could do in his youth?

Who knows!

But he faltered on the third rung and despite all the efforts of his team was forced to change his ambitions and to be lowered down to the ground.

The photos below show some of them climbing “Jacobs Ladder” and canoeing down the river.

They were all safely tucked up in bed around 9:30 last night but may not last that long tonight?  After the evening meal they are going to a camp fire with a sing song and silly games!
